These terms apply to your use of the ChronoBeat app for iPhone and Apple Watch (“ChronoBeat”). By downloading or using ChronoBeat you agree to these terms and to Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (Apple Standard EULA), which governs the license to use the app. If these terms conflict with the Apple Standard EULA, the EULA prevails to the extent required.
What ChronoBeat does
ChronoBeat analyzes the sound of a mechanical watch captured by your device’s microphone, or by a supported audio input such as AirPods when iOS makes it available, and estimates timing values such as beat rate (BPH), beat error and rate (seconds per day), together with signal quality, stability and a confidence score. All analysis runs on your device.
Measurement limitations
- ChronoBeat is an acoustic timing analyzer. It is not a certified timegrapher, not a laboratory instrument and not a replacement for professional watchmaking or servicing equipment.
- Results are estimates. They depend on the watch, the case, the microphone, the placement, background noise and other conditions. Rate values use your device’s audio clock as the time reference, whose tolerance limits absolute accuracy.
- ChronoBeat does not measure amplitude or lift angle and does not detect the physical position of the watch; positions are labels you enter.
- When the signal does not support a value, ChronoBeat shows it as unavailable. No guarantee is given that any value reflects the true performance of a watch.
- Do not open, adjust or regulate a watch based solely on ChronoBeat results. Consult a qualified watchmaker for service decisions.
Free tests and ChronoBeat Lifetime
ChronoBeat includes three successful measurements free of charge. A measurement counts only when it produces a valid result that is saved; cancelled, interrupted, failed or low-confidence attempts do not count. Unlimited measurements require the one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase “ChronoBeat Lifetime”. The purchase is sold and processed by Apple under the App Store terms; pricing is shown in the app and may vary by country. Refund requests are handled by Apple. You can restore a previous purchase with the same Apple Account in Settings › Restore Purchase. “Lifetime” refers to the lifetime of the ChronoBeat app on the App Store for your Apple Account; it is not a subscription.
Acceptable use
Use ChronoBeat only for lawful purposes. Do not use it to record or analyze sounds you are not permitted to capture, do not attempt to reverse engineer, circumvent the purchase mechanism of, or interfere with the app, and do not present ChronoBeat results as certified measurements or certificates.
Apple and third parties
Apple is not responsible for ChronoBeat or its content. Apple, iPhone, Apple Watch and AirPods are trademarks of Apple Inc. ChronoBeat is not affiliated with or endorsed by Apple Inc. or any watch manufacturer. Watch brand names you enter in the app are your own descriptions.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
ChronoBeat is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the developer disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of results, and is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for any damage to a watch or loss arising from decisions made based on ChronoBeat results. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under mandatory consumer protection law.
Changes
These terms may be updated. The current version is always available on this page. Continued use after an update means you accept the updated terms.
